Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy
A vacuum-assisted biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure used to collect tissue samples for testing. It is often recommended when a larger or more detailed sample is needed, or when an area is difficult to assess with standard biopsy techniques.
Using imaging guidance (such as ultrasound, mammography, or MRI), the radiologist accurately positions a specialised biopsy needle at the area of concern. The device uses suction (vacuum assistance) to collect multiple tissue samples through a single small incision, reducing the need for repeated needle insertions.
To ensure your comfort, local anaesthetic is always used to numb the area before the procedure begins. Most patients feel little to no pain, although some pressure may be noticed during sampling.
Compared with other biopsy methods, a vacuum-assisted biopsy can obtain a larger volume of tissue, which can improve diagnostic accuracy.
The procedure is usually quick, and most patients can return to normal activities shortly afterwards. The tissue samples are sent to pathology for detailed analysis, and your referring doctor will discuss the results with you.

Beneath the quiet guidance of soft sound,
Where shadows shift and hidden forms appear,
A careful hand moves gently, calm and sure,
To seek the truth and bring its meaning near.
With measured grace, a single pathway made,
No more than what is needed, small and light,
Through which the answers, quietly gathered,
Emerge from depths once hidden from our sight.
The skin made numb, so comfort stays with you,
A fleeting pressure all you need to feel,
While science and precision work as one,
To understand, to clarify, to heal.
And in those samples, softly drawn and kept,
Lies knowledge shaped to guide each coming step.
