Pelvic, Renal & Pregnancy Scans (First Trimester)

For: Pelvic scan (including under 18’s), Renal scan, Less than 12 weeks obstetric scan/Dating scan and 12-14 weeks Obstetric scan: Please drink 2 glasses of water 1 hour prior to your appointment and hold your bladder.For: 20-22 weeks Obstetric scan and Third trimester scan please be well hydrated and hold bladder 30 minutes prior to your appointment.

Nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours before your ultrasound. You may take regular medications with a small sip of water.

Mammogram Preparation

Avoid certain products: Do not wear deodorant, perfume, lotion or talcum powder on the day of your mammogram (these can appear as shadows on the X-ray). Clothing: Choose a two-piece outfit so you only need to undress from the waist up. Jewellery: Please remove necklaces and large earrings before the procedure.

For most other examinations (Thyroid, Breast Ultrasound, Musculoskeletal), there is generally no specific preparation required. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you are unsure, please call us on 02 4880 1980.
