Screening Mammography

Private screening to detect early signs of breast cancer before symptoms appear.

Screening mammography is an X-ray examination of the breasts used to detect early signs of breast cancer in women who have no symptoms. It is an important tool for identifying changes in breast tissue before they can be felt, allowing for earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment.

During the examination, each breast is gently compressed for a few seconds while images are taken from different angles. While this may feel slightly uncomfortable, it is brief and helps ensure the clearest possible images.

At our clinic, screening mammography is offered as a private service. It is not covered by Medicare and is separate from the government-funded BreastScreen program. As such, a fee will apply for this examination.

Regular screening is recommended for women within certain age groups or those with specific risk factors. If you are unsure whether screening mammography is appropriate for you, our team is happy to provide guidance.

A simple test, both quick and kind,
To bring you ease and peace of mind,
When no signs show, no cause for fear,
It helps to see what’s not yet clear.

With gentle care, the images are made,
Each breast held still, then softly laid,
A brief discomfort, over fast,
For clarity that’s built to last.

It looks within with careful sight,
To find small changes, hidden from light,
So if a shift begins to grow,
It’s seen as early as it shows.

This service here is offered wide,
With choice and comfort at your side,
Privately funded, it stands apart,
From public programs you may start.

So whether routine or seeking reassurance true,
This quiet check is here for you—
With guiding hands and thoughtful view,
Supporting every step you do.
